Mrs Fortune’s father was the ship’s doctor and he also worked as a GP in Sunderland for 25 years.

She was built in Yarrow in April 1942. On duty as a convoy escort and anti submarine duties. She was named after a fox hunt in North Wales.

Later she was involved in action in the Atlantic 1943, English Channel 1943, Normandy 1944 and Bay of Biscay 1944.

She served in the Royal Hellenic Navy as HMS Adrias (ii) until August 1962, then she was put on the disposal list.

267 destroyers were manufactured in WW2.
